General Information & Guidelines

Recycling:

LOCAL LAW REQUIRES that Recyclables be placed out in your recycling bin or labeled container at curbside NO EARLIER than the night before the scheduled collection day or before 7:00 a.m. on the designated collection day. Place a weight on top of newspapers to prevent their blowing away. In case of rain, cover the newspapers. Rinse food and beverage containers thoroughly. Please refer to your Sanitation & Recycling Pickup Schedule (located above). The attached Recycling Guideline provides a detailed outline of which items are Recyclable as well as some additional pickups.

COMMINGLED - PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ITEMS CODED 1 - 7 ARE RECYCLABLE.

Residential Food Scrap Recycling - 
A 24/7 Food Scrap Recycling Drop-off is available for TOWN RESIDENTS at the dead end of Farella Way.  This program is Residential use only, NOT for Commercial use.  This voluntary program involves separating food scraps from your household trash.  For sanitary purposes food scraps must be placed within a compostable BPI Certified bag purchased by the resident from local retailer.  BPI certified bags are available for purchase at the Town Clerk's office located at 40 Mill Road.

Other Materials - may be Recycled during a Westchester County Household Material Recovery Day. During a Material Recovery Day residents may drop off household waste that cannot be set out for curbside collection or recycling. For more information please  refer to Westchester County.

Non-Collected Materials:
The following items are not collected by the Town:

Tree Trunk (Logs), Stumps Rocks, Dirt Building Materials: (Concrete, Asphalt, Plaster, Tile, Sheet rock, Wood (including wood doors), windows (including glass inserts), insulation, roofing material, etc.  Disposal of these materials must be arranged with a private carter or contractor

Tires, Car Batteries - Must be disposed of through their place of purchase
Used Motor - Must be disposed of at a gas station

Chemicals - Household Chemicals may be disposed of through Westchester County - Refer to Westchester County Household Recycling Schedule.
